During a joint press conference with the Minister of Transport, Youcef Cherfa, following a workshop on export-related logistics procedures, the Minister of Commerce and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, emphasized the significant capabilities of the national economy in non-oil exports, aiming to reach $30 billion by 2029.

Mr. Zitouni stated that the evaluation of national capacities in non-oil exports has revealed substantial potential in many local products seeking international markets. This includes 120 million square meters of ceramics, 10 million tons of clinker cement, 3 million tons of sugar, and 100,000 tons of dates.

Furthermore, the Minister highlighted the integration of the Export Support and Promotion Fund into the 2024 budget bill, in accordance with the President's decision to support Algerian exporters, whom he regards as the "economic ambassadors of Algeria." He called on professional associations to contribute to the development of the legal framework and necessary measures to ensure an effective response to the needs of exporters.

Mr. Zitouni also announced upcoming meetings with the Ministry of Finance to review export procedures, with the aim of overcoming challenges faced by Algerian exporters, particularly regarding taxes, customs, and payment systems.
